If you are a desktop user, then you do not need to use the power saver plan. However, laptop users should try using High Performance when connected to a power source and Balanced when unplugged.

2.Reduce the Number of Start-up Programs in Windows 10


Just like the previous versions, of Windows, you can disable the start-up programs in Windows 10 too. Al you need to do is press Control + Shift + Esc or right-click the lower corner of the screen. Then select Task Manager. When Task Manager is launched, a compact app will appear on the screen with no tabs and click on ‘More details’ at the bottom of the screen. Click at it and you will be able to kill all the unnecessary programs that launch on start up.
Just scroll down the list and right-click on the program and click ‘Disable’. This means the program is not disabled, but only prevented from launching at startup. Thus, you will find your computer is relatively faster when you start your computer after you disable the unnecessary applications.

3.Clean Up Registry


Registry keeps a track of everything happing with Windows and controls the way it works and appears. However, even after you uninstall a program, the settings related to it never get up in the Registry. Thus, you have countless useless settings piling up. This can slow up your computer over time.

6.Turn Off Search Indexing


Whenever you search for a file in the Documents library, it gives you results immediately. However, this is the result of indexing that can slow down your PC. You need to turn off all indexing by right-clicking C: drive and selecting Properties.  In General tab, uncheck Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties. A warning box will appear and you need to select Apply changes to drive C:\, subfolders and files. This process takes time, so better try it before lunch time.

In case you want to turn of certain indexing, then you need to type indexing in Cortana. Then choose Indexing Options and click Modify near the lower-left side. A new dialog box will open with two sections. Begin with Summary of selected locations right at the bottom of the dialog box. Click at any of the options and it will change the contents in the top section. When you uncheck the items in Change selected locations it will stop indexing those locations.

7.Clean the internal drive


If the internal storage is full then it will definitely slow down your computer. In Cortana, type disk and select Disk Cleanup. Allow disk cleanup to examine your drive and then click Clean up system files. Try checking the options as well. If you are lucky you will find Previous Windows installation(s). Check it and then click OK. It will free up a lot of space.

Hotmail


Hotmail or Windows Live account users need to go to their inbox. Under Sort by select the email you wish to track. You will get a menu with lots of drop-down options.
